Genuine East German (German Democratic Republic) Army issue ushanka. The war was cold and so was the winter air. Troops would wear these warm ushankas to protect their head, ears, and chin from the cold. The faux fur (or fish fur) ear flaps can be buttoned under the chin or tied back, ski-style. These remained as part of the winter German Police uniform after the reunification of Germany.

The genuine East German insignia makes this a nice piece for a collector but these are great to wear it in the colder months!
